This is Femmis
Femmis, the association for single parents by choice though donation, is a non-profit, politically and religiously independent organization run by its members meant for those who are, are trying to become or considering becoming single parents by choice with the aid of gametes/embryos provided by a clinic or sperm bank, in Sweden or abroad.
Femmis consists of people in all different stages of becoming a single parent by choice, we have members from all over Sweden and of varying ages. What unites us is our longing for and the love we feel towards our children, and that we are choosing to become single parents.
The association was founded in 2005. Our members’ oldest children were born in 2002 and there are constantly more being born.
The aims of Femmis are the following:
- to be a network for our members and their children,
- to create opportunities for the children to meet other children who have been conceived through donation with a single parent,
- to gather and and spread information about issues regarding single parents rights to have and live with children,
- to promote openness in regard to issues concerning assisted reproduction with donated gametes and our childrens’ conception.
